Biography	履歴書

After a youth spent drawing superheroes, electric guitars, football players and numerous other teenage obsessions all over my school textbooks in Brighton, England, I took the Art College route, graduating from Hastings Art College in 1989 and Manchester in 1992. Specialising in Print, I learned Lithography, Etching and Screenprint but decided I preferred more 'immediate' media and turned to painting, drawing and woodcuts. Somehow I have ended up just outside Tokyo, in Japan where I continue to produce work influenced by Expressionist ideas and exhibit in as many countries as possible.

毎日授業に集中するより教科書に色々な漫画を描いていた高校時代の後にイギリスのへースティングズ美術学校（１９８９）、それからマンチェスター芸大（１９９２）を卒業しました。大学で印刷を勉強し、リトグラフ（石版）とエッチイングとスクリーン印刷を習ったがそれらより、もう少し直接のやり方を目指して卒業の後に油絵と木版がを始めました。現在、日本に来ました僕は埼玉県で表現主義の影響をとってる絵を作り続きます。できるだけ楽しみながらどこの国でも展示をしたいと思います。

Outrage: a 16-page pamphlet of woodcut prints released in summer 2010. The pamphlet contains 12 prints featuring poets and other performers from the live performance community in Tokyo accompanied by some random personal recollections set out in a font also carved from wood.

DesignFesta31：5月の16日に東京BIG－SITEで数千人の出展者！すごかった！

Yokohama International Art Fair 2009: The first open air art fair held in Japan (to my knowledge). 3 days in the sun in Yamashita Park, Yokohama. Brilliant fun!

国際屋外アートフェア２００９横浜：こういう外のアートフェアは日本初めてと言われている。横浜の開港１５０年記念のイベントとして主催されている。山下公園で３日間を楽しく過ごしました。

Japanzine, April Issue 2009: Thanks to the people at Japanzine for featuring me in their April '08 issue. The best English language publication in Japan by far!

Harmonium Parlour: Fantastic event organized by the band, 'Semi-On' and held monthly at the Plastic Factory in Nagoya. Art exhibitions and live music. I was the featured artist for August, 09.

ハーモニアムパーラー：名古屋のプラスチックファクトリーというライブハウス＆アートスペースでSemi-Onというバンドがイベントを主催しています。日本人の若者が音楽とアートの活躍でこのイベントが知られている。２００９年の４月に僕が紹介されたアーティストだした。

GeiSai2008: I took part in this international event organized by Takeshi Murakami in May 2008. Held at Tokyo Big Site, it was an exciting opportunity to show and discuss my work with a large number of people.

GeiSai2008:　村上たけしが主催するGeiSaiというアートフェアに参加しました。東京ビッグサイトで３００人ぐらいの若者の芸術家と一緒に大勢の客さんに自分の作品を見せたり、説明をしました。

Jungle Crows: Printed Matted Press is an independent publisher of cutting edge poetry and prose in Japan and beyond. They publish many well-known writers resident in Japan including Donald Ritchie. I illustrated the 2008 anthology titled, 'Jungle Crows'.

ジャングルクローズ：Printed Matter Press (PMP)はDonald Ritchieをはじめいろんな日本に滞在している作家たちの詩と諸説を出版しています。２００８年に出たJungle Crowsという選集の本をイラストを描きました。

Ben's Cafe : with the painter Mike Metteer I held a couple of shows here in Tokyo at our friend Yoshiko Toyama's art cafe in '07 and '08. Check out Ben's in Takadanobaba for good food and ambience if you're ever in the vicinity.

Ben's Cafe: マイク　メチアーという画家と一緒に友達の外山よしこさんのアートカフェでBen's Cafe高田馬場)２００７年と２００８年二回展覧会をやりました。雰囲気のよい、料理もおいしいところです。東京にいる皆さんぜひ試してみてください。

Worthing Museum: In 2006, I was selected to participate in a 3-person show at the magnificent Worthing Museum and Art Gallery. My co-exhibitors were a ceramicist and a papier-machesist respectively.

ワージング市立美術館：２００６年にイギリスの南にあるWorthingで３人組みでこの展覧会をやりました。立派の美術館で僕の２５個の作品が展示されていました。

Thebes Gallery : The city of Lewes, capital of the county of Sussex in England has a public gallery called 'Thebes'. I held a one-man show in 2004.

ティーブスギャレリー：このイギリス市立ギャラリーで２００４年にワンマン展をやりました。
